Norms for Success

The 4 "Be's"

Be here.  Everyone is expected to strive for 100% attendance.

Be on time.  Everyone should be on time (to school and to class).

Be respectful.  Follow the electronics policy, remove your hat and hood when you are inside the building, use professional language.

Be prepared.  Yes, this includes physical preparation: materials, homework, supplies but also mental preparation.  Be present.  Give yourself permission to focus on the task at hand.

Shoot for the Stars

Strive for a minimum 90% overall average.

There are three reasons for this:

  1. A higher average shows mastery level while a 65% shows minimal competence
  2. Eligibility to enroll in early college programs often require an 85% GPA or above
  3. A higher GPA will make you a more competitive applicant to the college of your choice.

Strive for a minimum of 85% on all Regents exams

In addition to attending Regents preparation opportunities, be aware of your strengths and areas of growth for each subject.  Make a plan to learn what you don’t know.
